SDV 101 - Orientation to Culinary Arts Credits: 1 Introduces students to the skills which are necessary to achieve their academic goals, to services offered at the college and to the culinary discipline. Covers topics such as services at the college including the learning resources center; counseling, and advising; listening, test taking, and study skills; and topical areas which are applicable to their particular discipline. Provides an overview of the culinary programs and the college’s policies, procedures, curricular offerings and general educations competencies. Covers specific areas in culinary arts including required tools, textbooks and equipment, culinary course scheduling including on-line offerings, prerequisite planning, extern and internship courses and placement, and expectations for students in the culinary programs.
