Liberal Arts, Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree program in the liberal arts. Four-year liberal arts programs prepare graduates for a wide variety of jobs in business, the arts, education, medical and legal professions, and in social and public service occupations. Liberal Arts studies emphasize fine arts, language, literature, philosophy, mathematics, science, social science and analytical and critical thinking skills, all of which prepare students for lifelong learning and social, cultural, and technological change.

Courses required for the Liberal Arts degree are available on all four campuses.

Intermediate Foreign Language sequences include: ASL 201  - ASL 202  ; FRE 203  - FRE 204  ; GER 201  - GER 202; RUS 201  - RUS 202  ; SPA 203  - SPA 204  .

 

Note: Students who already have foreign language proficiency or have successfully completed two years of a foreign language in high school may petition for advanced placement. Students placed into an intermediate course in foreign language, may substitute courses from the approved list of humanities and/or social sciences under General Education Core Requirements for the language credits needed to complete the degree.

5Students may select any Humanities or Social Science elective under General Education Core Requirements  . Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).

6Students may select any Social Science elective under General Education Core Requirements , except for a History Course. Eligible courses are listed under General Education Core Requirements. Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).

7Students may select any English Literature course listed as a Humanities Elective under General Education Core Requirements . ENG 250   and ENG 259 are recommended. Eligible courses are listed under General Education Core Requirements. Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).
