The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in General Studies is a flexible degree that allows students to design a curriculum that meets particular transfer objectives that are not fulfilled by existing TCC transfer programs. The program consists of a number of electives that may be selected in consultation with an advisor or counselor to maximize course transferability to a student’s preferred program at a four-year institution. 

Courses required for the General Studies degree are available on all four campuses.

1Eligible courses are listed under General Education Core Requirements . Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s). Mathematics courses numbered less than MTH 154  cannot be used to fulfill the mathematics requirement.

2Students may substitute CST 100 for  CST 110  Consult transfer institution to ensure that the substitution is appropriate for intended transfer program.

3Eligible courses are listed under Approved Electives for Transfer  . Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).

4Students may select any of the following courses to meet this requirement: HIS 101 , HIS 102 , HIS 111 , HIS 112 , HIS 121 , or HIS 122 .

5Some colleges and universities require a single math class while others require a math sequence such as MTH 154  / MTH 245  , MTH 154  / MTH 155  , MTH 161  / MTH 245  , MTH 161  / MTH 162  . Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s) based on their intended transfer college/university.

6Students may substitute SDV 101 or SDV 108 for SDV 100.

7Students may select any 100-level or 200-level course to meet this requirement.

8Students may select from eligible Humanities courses identified under General Education Core Requirements  . To satisfy the Humanities requirement, courses must be selected from two of the three categories: Artistic Expression; Literature and Creative Writing; or Human Culture. Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).

9Students may select any Social Science elective under General Education Core Requirements , except for a History Course. Eligible courses are listed under General Education Core Requirements. Students should consult with an academic advisor or counselor to choose the appropriate course(s).
