HIM 290 - Coordinated Internship in Health Information Management

Supervises on-the-job training in selected business, industrial or service firms coordinated by the college. Credit/practice ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit.

Supervised internship in selected health agencies coordinated by the college. Professional Practice Experience in Health Information Management provides the student with an opportunity to apply knowledge and use skills acquired in the classroom and laboratory. The student is able to observe and participate in certain learning activities planned to correlate with prior instruction. The student is required to complete a variety of special projects designed to develop management skills for the health information technologist. The course consists of a twelve week internship totaling 120 hours for the semester.

Prerequisite: Admission into program.
